Working Papers Culture and Technology Studies (WPktS), sees itself as a platform for exchange with colleagues and ( junior) academics who have located their seminar papers, theses or research papers in a primarily cultural and techno sociological framework.
A humanistic and sociological view of technology is characterized, among other things, by the fact that the conditional relationship between technical artifacts and the
social contexts in which they are embedded is seen as interdependent – equally constitutive on both sides. The title of this series does justice to this characteristic feature of sociological perspectives on technology, insofar as one can assume a socio-cultural coloration of technology and, conversely, a coloration of technology-inherent features on the social. In addition, the series would also like to take into account the visual and performing arts‘ engagement with technical artifacts, since the various contexts of research, development, production, embedding, and use are blurred by the different emphases and orientations of these contexts: In highly differentiated societies, the relationship between society and technology is characterized by specific de- and reembedding dynamics, which can be adequately deciphered through a combination of re- and constructive strategies of engagement.
The series Working Papers Culture and Technology Studies (WPktS) provides a platform for low-threshold exchange with colleagues and is open to artists, scientists and students from all universities, disciplines, and institutes for the publication of their research and qualification papers. The thematic framework is intentionally broad and can be approached through various forms of presentation, ranging from essays to research outlines and articles.
The series WPktS has been published since 2008; each issue can be accessed online as a PDF document here.
